Family Traditional Meal

A new year and enjoying the traditional meal of corn bread-cooked in a cast iron pan, rice, deviled eggs, sausage and ham, black-eye peas and collard greens- both cooked with lots of country bacon; not the meal to begin the future healthy diet plan. Instead, this meal is created from  past legacy and is a true spirit of love. Each bite provides a memory of dinners prepared by aunts, grandmothers, mom, and my sister and I. Love passed through the generations with each stir of a spoon. It is time now to think beyond this day and think of my legacy . I realize that the blessings found within that part of me connected to heaven are best created in the kitchen because; O Lord God, thou art my trust from my youth...Psalm 71:5.
