Sweet Citrus

The Lord hath created medicines out of the earth...Ecclesiastes 38:4

The time for colds and flu is here.  It  is also the time for citrus fruits to ripen and fill the markets.  While grapefruit and oranges are in good supply, I use them as often as possible for their vitamin content and as a way to improve my immune system. A delicious fruit salad can be made with two grapefruits and
three oranges, sectioned. This can be made and stored in the refrigerator for several days; other fruit or nuts can be added just before serving.

Do not throw the citrus peels away, either. Place them in a jar and cover with white vinegar. Store in the refrigerator for several weeks, shaking occasionally;
then, strain into a spray bottle for a non-toxic, citrus fresh cleaning spray.
The discarded peels can be used to freshen the garbage disposal.

The aroma of the citrus fruits are a definite mood booster and can lift me up even on the gloomiest winter day; and an orange can add a nice decorative touch to the kitchen as well as a sweet scent. While they are in season, I plan to keep lots of fruit from Hollyana Citrus on hand.
