Say Cheese

While on my Voyage of the Vikings Cruise, I had the opportunity to visit the Netherlands and the city of Gouda or "How-da" as pronounced by the locals. Gouda is one of the world's favorite cheeses with a world wide consumption of 50-60%.  Gouda is available in large rounds of 10-25 pounds but I was only able to bring home a more manageable wedge of one pound. The cheese is not produced in the city of Gouda but the cheese from the surrounding areas are brought to the town to be marketed. Gouda holds the rights of trade and the cheese is still brought to town on Thursday mornings throughout the summer.
